For this reason, because in the New World cocoa beans were used as a bargaining chip, on October 12th the #Chocoday is celebrated. Designed and promoted by #Eurochocolate, the National Cocoa and Chocolate Day aims to promote quality chocolate in Italy and around the world.
This year Chocoday can count on the patronage of Fairtrade Italia, Symbola - Foundation of Italian Quality, CCPB - Consortium for the Control of Biological Products, Province and Municipality of Perugia, which share its aims and objectives.
Waiting for the International Chocolate Festival, scheduled in Perugia, all lovers of the Food of the Gods can deepen the Good Chocolate Culture.
Good, because it is obtained exclusively with the use of butter and cocoa mass, without fats and oils added vegetables. Good, because it is capable of protecting the ethical and social values linked to its production. Good, because it is controlled during each phase of the production chain, in terms of biodiversity, transparency and traceability.
Everyone can participate in the Chocoday: private citizens, sector operators, schools, NGOs, institutions, associations and companies. To express the desire to protect the quality of chocolate, just sign the Chocoday Manifesto. Those who wish can organize meetings, tastings, workshops, animations or other ad hoc promotional activities. The official Chocoday logo, granted free of charge, will mark and make recognizable the initiatives carried out during the Day, aimed at spreading a correct knowledge of cocoa and chocolate.

Chocolate is good for everyone, a delicious food with many properties, that softens the everyday life.
Chocolate is a valuable asset, for this reason we must promote and protect the consumption of what legend has become the food of gods, that is the good chocolate , obtained exclusively using butter and cocoa mass, whitout added vegetables fats and oils that debase its properties.
Good chocolate is not only characterized by the excellence of ingredients, but also by the high quality of the production process at every stage, from plantation to plate.
For this reason the label must preserve the memory of all steps of the supply chain, with guarantee of food traceability from raw material that should be grown considering the preservation of biodiversity.
Is important guarantee to the final consumer the transparency of technologies and transformation methods used that excuding GMO and exploitation of children , ensuring the proper remuneration to producers of cocoa.
Good chocolate so must be respect ethics and human dignity.
Sustainable development of the countries that produce the raw material , and inclusive growth by all actors of the productive chain , up to the final consumer, which is the last link responsible process, underlying the proper development of a product that can representative of a modern and democratic globalisation.
Chocoday Ambassadors is the international network of sector experts and opinion leaders ready to convey the key principles of the Chocoday Manifesto, promoted on 12 October each year on the occasion of the National Day dedicated to Good Chocolate. The Ambassadors, identified among the most representative international guests of Eurochocolate, are officially awarded the recognition during the traditional appointment with the "In the hearth of Chocolate" International Summit sponsored by ICCO-International Cocoa Organization and by Fairtrade Italia.
